Getting to know clients and hearing their stories about this company and clean facility overall.

Phony management, not equipped to handle persons with SPMI's, no true support, quick turnover, unprofessional, horrible and unhealthy food for clients and employees, should be looked into by the state, most of upper management are either related or married to each other, training is only a week and is very rushed, no certification needed to pass prescription medications, did CPR course online without physically using dolls, residents pay more than they should to live in these facilities, no real therapists or psychiatrists on staff for their mentally ill customized living programs.

I'm disappointed to hear about your expereience at SLS. I'm afraid you may have not understood the setting in which we provide care. Our programs are not intended to be treatment facilities which is why we do not have licensed psychologists or psychiatrists on staff. Clients may chose to live in a setting with professionals on site; however, our setting is designed to be more independent, and the clients who live in our programs have chosen to live in our settings because of that. One of the service that we do provide is assisting our clients in scheduling appointments with those providers and ensuring they are seeing the providers regularly to maintain their mental and physical wellbeing. Familial relationships are no secret within the organization and do not just occur within management. We actually consider the family relationships a good thing; it shows that employees like working at SLS and have recruited their friends and family to work here as well! I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at SLS. It clear that we need to do a better job of training and educating staff about the setting that our clients are chosing to live in and what our role is within their larger care team. It's a hard industry! Direct care teams have higher turnover than support teams, but management continues to work to improve and make it a desirable place to stay!
