Vantaggi

Most of the people they do hire are very nice and they do know how to throw a good party. Unfortunately, that does not make up for the cons.

Svantaggi

Because of all these things and more, I've been hesitant to leave a review but I've given it a lot of thought and I'm really hoping this will help save someone from the experiences that myself and many others have had. This company breeds a toxic work environment filled with cliques masked by smiles and the pushing of "values." The values that only pertain to those who are not in the "in" group. One of those values is "hungry spirit" where they preach that you should be helping out wherever you can and no task is beneath you. While this is a good value in theory, it's pretty much their excuse to tell you you're not working hard enough unless you're doing the job of 2+ people. I was maxed out in capacity while I was there, and I did help my team members whenever I could, yet I kept getting the feedback that I wasn't "hungry" enough. If you're not in the "in" group, you're an outsider. I have first-hand witnessed grown adults choosing not to like someone with no rational reasons why, then making microaggressions to try and push this person out. It's a form of bullying I didn't think I'd experience after high school. I've also witnessed gossiping and talking negatively about other coworkers for which only the ones who do it and get away with it are those that are part of the core group (consisting mostly of managers and executive leadership). It's an incredibly toxic environment that's led from the top down. There is no concrete career advancement plan. They keep it vague in order to load you up with responsibilities in hopes of a promotion, which will never happen unless you're part of the "in" group. Expect to get paid in "events" and "treats" instead of an actual livable wage. I'm fine doing a little extra work, but I'd prefer to be compensated monetarily over getting a free beer every once in a while. There's about 0% chance you'll be able to work from home. That is unless you're a part of that “in” group where you can convince them. If you decide to leave, whether you found a better-paying job or you’re just over being outcasted, you will be dead to them, no matter on the terms in which you left. They take it incredibly personally. Some people seemed to be let go once HR found out they were even looking for other jobs and I had even witnessed others who left where certain upper level managers would call their friends at other companies and tell them not to hire them. If they really thought about their employees as a family, they would not do that just because someone was wanting to move on to find something that’s better for them.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Supportworks, we appreciate all feedback, even hard feedback, as it helps us improve as a company and to deliver a better employee experience. We're truly sorry to hear you felt this way during your time with us. Creating a positive and supportive work environment is one of our top priorities, and we take concerns like yours seriously. 1. We want employees to experience great career growth here and many have over the years. Being a mid-sized employer (currently at about 100 employees), our growth is more measured and steady, and usually advancement comes when we are able to create new positions. One great example is someone who started as an installer and is now a VP! 2. We do have lots of events including “treat trains” and it does make work fun, but we also strive to be competitive in pay. We had a third-party review of our pay bands in 2023 and are in the process of reviewing pay again this year. We care about paying our employees fairly. 3. We are mostly a work from office culture. We strongly value the camaraderie that comes from being together and we think most of our employee like it as well, as we have just been named Best Places to work for the fourth time in five years. All that said, we hear there were some areas we fell short in your experience, and we are sorry for that. You mentioned bullying and that is a very serious accusation. We’d love the opportunity to discuss your concerns further to better understand your experience. If you’re open to talking with us, please reach out to our President, HR, or whoever you are comfortable speaking with. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and truly appreciate the time you spent with us and the contributions you made to the team! - Human Resources

Vantaggi

- Used to be open-minded and innovative. - Used to have a nice relaxed environment. - Used to have good policies for management staying in touch with workers.

Svantaggi

- Management is not on the same page and gives inconsistent messaging. - Management does not receive constructive criticism at all. Only tell them what they want to hear. - Upper management does not listen to concerns (or anything really) from workers. Middle management is vindictive and insecure. - Management often makes disparaging political and religious comments. - No clear paths for career progression. - Many of their reviews, job postings, etc. are misleading or outright lies. - Management highly values outward appearance of the company (Best Place to Work survey) over reality. They do everything they can short of paying employees for good reviews. - Benefits such as health care, work from home policies, parental leave, basic vacation are all regressive. - Made up "value" system pushed onto employees but ignored for management. - Little to no diversity (non-white or non-males are definitely treated differently). - Accounting can make costly errors with paychecks (possibly illegal). - New hires make more than long time employees. - NO bonuses at all. Ever. - Took government handouts and cut employee salaries during Covid, all while profits went up.

We appreciate your review, even if it’s harsh. So, first things first, we do wish you had a better experience here, particularly with your manager who it sounds like you did not see eye to eye with. Second, we thank you for your contribution to our team. Employers walk a fine line in responding to reviews. On the one hand, we never want to be defensive or try to change the former employee's perspective on things. It's important to receive feedback in humility and gratitude. On the other hand, when feedback contains false information, even accusations of bribery and illegal activity, we are compelled to respond for the sake of our incredible team and future candidates who may be reading this. With that said, here are some of our thoughts in response to your review. 1. We are sorry if someone made political or religious comments you did not appreciate. There are employees with all sorts of differing political and religious views here and we respect them for that. We don't, however, tolerate discrimination or disparagement of others. 2. Employees DO progress here. I am an example of that, having grown into five different roles with increasing responsibility over time. As we grow, positions are created and those who are committed to doing their job well and living our values often get those opportunities. We also have other "sister" companies here that offer growth opportunities as well. 3. I am not trying to change your perception here, but we do strive to listen to employees’ concerns. We do this through anonymous and non-anonymous surveys, weekly and bi-weekly 1:1s, and more. Employee feedback is very important to us. 4. We are sad that you stated our reviews and postings are lies, and what you have said is not true. Regarding our Best Places to Work awards over the years (4 in the last 5 years), companies cannot - and we DID NOT - bribe, pay, pressure, or coerce employees into taking the survey. We are careful with our wording to invite, not require, employees to take the survey. We send the invitation via email (not face to face "asks") and have no way of knowing who completes it or what they say. It is always voluntary. 5. Regarding diversity, we want to be more racially diverse than we are. As a part of the recruiting process, I can vouch that we work toward this goal and will continue to do so. Also, there is a good split of males and females on our team, our President is a woman, and half of our Executive Team members are women. 6. Your statement that our accounting team makes costly payroll errors or is possibly operating illegally is a false and damaging claim. I work with the team who prepares payroll, and I can tell you it is a painstaking process with many checks and balances and many layers of review for error. The person who currently processes payroll is exacting, knowing that having on-time and correct pay is the most basic need for all employees. If you personally experienced an error in payroll while you were here and did not tell us, please tell us now. We’ll want to make it right. 7. Your statement about COVID is not true. When COVID started in early 2020, we were in the same boat as many companies who wondered what was going to happen and whether we would need to cut salaries or cut employees. We decided we didn’t want anyone on our team to lose their job, so we instead planned to cut salaries, with the Executives and Directors slated to get the highest pay cuts. We lowered pay for one wek but were able to restore salaries and pay eveyone back for that week because we qualified for COVID related tax relief programs and subsidies as were many other employers. So the truth is no one was laid off and no one got a pay cut. I will say again: I wish your experience was different here and that you enjoyed it and were more fulfilled. And I hope you are very happy where you are now. Take care. - Human Resources
