Between corporate trying to cut costs where there are none to cut and a toxic mean-girl culture, I would not recommend working here at all. When I started in May of 2018, I really did enjoy the job. I got an easy start with a few small classes before the summer camps started. It wasn't very long before I started to realize that certain employees could get away with things like being late without any warning or an unprofessional attitude. When I got a friend a job at the location and found out they were being paid more than me, and that my pay hadn't been bumped up to this new rate, I was rather upset. The only response from upper management was that "employees are not supposed to discuss pay." Annual review comes around and I'm offered a measly 2% increase on my laughable $8/hr. For the amount of work they expect you to do, which has only been magnified now that the maximum number of Assistants for even a full class is 2, $8/hr is NOT enough. While there were certainly good days and bad days, the good days were never great and the bad days were awful. The store closes at 9PM and we are supposed to leave by 10PM. On many occasions we have stayed MUCH later than that as the chef either wasted time during class, didn't know what they were talking about, or had no sense of urgency or respect for anyone else's time. Couple that with the fact that you may even be scheduled for 7AM the next day. Overall, while a nice job if you don't mind standing on your feet for 4-6 hrs with little accommodation to reduce the stress on your legs and back, this is only a job I would recommend to someone with no workplace experience so they can see how a job *shouldn't* be run.
