Working at the HO was a big dream of mine before it all came crashing down after a very short period of working there, due to impatience and micromanagement. First I got told off for being 'late' when I was told I could arrive whenever I wanted between 7-10am and leave between 4 and 6pm - no one ever told me we all had to be there at 9am on the dot, if I knew that I would have done that! Ever since then my manager had it in for me. Don't give people the flexibility if it's not true. After ONE MONTH, my manager expected me to be able to do everything perfectly. And refused to give me a smaller list of tasks to ease me in, so I was constantly against the clock trying to get a ridiculous amount of tasks done for a new starter. I was basically penalised for working after hours, and was told 'you should be able to complete all of this in a working day'. Other companies would praise new starters for working late! I couldn't enjoy the benefits of the job because I had too much work. No positive feedback what so ever and nothing was good enough. My manager also thought that after having a training session with our team members, for one hour each, that I would suddenly know everything and be able to do my job, even though they hired me with no experience... HR are also not on your side, they are there to listen but then will report to management immediately about the meeting. I felt isolated and against the clock because if I didn't leave, they were going to try and get me out.
