Cheap and sometimes free gear, mostly good coworkers, free turkey during thanksgiving.

Insurance is pretty poor. Constant up and down sales. If you don't make 90+ calls a day for your first 3-5 years, then you're not going to do well. Senior SEs watch younger SEs like a hawk. Sales management does not listen to the ideas of their employees. They don't tell the staff the true wholesale cost of items, so you're not really getting the percentage of commission you expect. Long hours. Boring meetings 3 times a week. No advancement. Management monitors you very closely. Even the food at the "Diner" is incredibly underwhelming. Very low base pay, so if you don't sell a lot, then you're going to have issues paying your bills. Very little time off. They just finished a huge expansion of the sales department, but won't expand the support staff, so many of the things that make Sweetwater better than the competitors is starting to become less reliable. The corporate atmosphere is very much cult of personality. If you don't follow the word of Chuck, you're done.

As someone who has been disabled my whole life, I believe that Sweetwater could do a better job at reaching disabled musicians. I think that there is a whole untapped market there.

The team of CSRs are some of the best group of people I have worked with. Everyone on the team generally gets along and I have made a ton of friends, especially having just moved to Fort Wayne. What is also helpful is that the job isn't 9-5 for everyone, and there are different schedules, both in times and days in office, that help with all types of schedules.

With how prices have been rising each year, the pay for the CSR position isn't great. Multiple people work second jobs and for the amount of work we do, a livable wage feels like the bare minimum. With how Sweetwater values the human connection on our calls, the push to implement Generative AI into the workflow seems counterintuitive. A lot of discussions around how the AI will be used and implemented counteract positions or jobs at Sweetwater, making multiple jobs seem in threat of being removed. Especially with how Sweetwater values the human expertise on the team, this feels like the wrong move.
