Synopsys is a well-managed, stable, financially healthy company. Excellent benefits package, esp. vacation time. Salaries are competitive compared to semiconductor design houses. Synopsys is the market leader overall, and is doing significantly better than the other major EDA companies. Employees are treated with respect and given latitude to make their own decisions about how to use their time.

The company is very much focused on the bottom line and pleasing shareholders. To this end, they are getting stingy with their employees. Pay raises are small if existent at all. Health insurance premiums are steep. More staff is needed in order to allow employees to do excel at their jobs. Compensation is better at other EDA companies. The EDA industry in general is not doing well.
