I was fortunate to receive a generous salary for my position, a decision made by the former leadership. However, I harbour reservations about whether my successor was compensated equally.

Before the installation of the new Senior Management Team, I held System C in high regard with no negative experiences to report. Regrettably, the change in leadership has led to a surge of negative feedback. The primary concern is the treatment of associates, with little consideration given to their wellbeing, especially in terms of communication about business changes. The methods used to decrease the number of employees have been harsh, such as maintaining redundancies just below the legal limit for consultation, resulting in multiple rounds of layoffs. This has led to the loss of significant domain expertise, affecting the remaining staff. The treatment of employees has prompted many to leave voluntarily, increasing the workload for those who remain. The CEO has filled senior managerial positions with his own team, none of whom possess the necessary domain knowledge for the business. This has resulted in questionable decision-making, reflected in the fact that System C has not secured another deal in the healthcare sector since the SMT took over. It appears that this negative trend is now impacting customers. It's disheartening to see a company that was once the best I've ever worked for decline so drastically in less than two years. The current strategy seems to be acquiring smaller companies to enhance the portfolio's apparent value. While this may seem beneficial on the surface, it's akin to purchasing a visually appealing car with a blown-up engine when examined more closely.

I could write a lot on this, but the two biggest challenges within the company are: 1. Disorganized processes and slow decision making. Operations felt chaotic, more like the downside of a start-up than the upside. Decisions moved slowly, inefficiencies were everywhere and few people seemed empowered or accountable to fix them. The technology, infrastructure, and ways of working often felt outdated and unnecessarily manual. 2. A People team lacking credibility and capability. From leadership down, the People function appeared out of depth. Initiatives such as career frameworks and progression tools being introduced felt more like surface level exercises than meaningful strategies. Despite the talk of being “people focused,” the execution of any initiatives lacked clarity, consistency and genuine understanding of what employees actually need.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m pleased our remote / hybrid working suited you, but I’m sorry that other aspects of your time did not meet your expectations. We recognise that some of our processes and tools have been too manual and slow. As we integrate our group of companies into one organisation, we’re investing in clearer processes, better systems and sharper ownership so decisions move faster. You’ve also raised concerns about our People team and career development. Our career frameworks are currently in the design and build phase to create greater transparency, with a communicated deadline of the end of our financial year. Alongside this, we’ve introduced Development Planning, Squiggly Careers training and toolkits, and a mentoring programme to support colleagues with their career development.
