Outside of the typical startup challenges, the CEO is the only problem I can see. First, he speaks very condescendingly to employees and treats people poorly when he doesn't understand something. What is worse, is that he often says things offhand and the expects them to get done despite not giving a clear directive or setting any kind of expectations, then going to their manager the next day wondering why things he wanted didn't get done. It happens way, way too often and leaves me feeling like a failure or that I am going to lose my job because of it. For example, he might say "It would be nice if we could do xyz" and then expects that to be done right away vs giving a clear directive and setting expectations. He could easily say "employee, please do xyz by tomorrow" instead. Imagine being reprimanded for something you were never asked to do...it isn't fun. I know MANY people feel the same way as we have openly discussed it, and what a possible solution might be. He is the primary reason we are losing so many people in top positions as he is not easy to work with or fun to work for. It is really sad too as our product is designed to create open communication and happy employees and David does the EXACT opposite. We can't even use our own product to give an anonymous suggestion on the matter as our policy is not to call out specific people, so here I am writing this.
