Vantaggi

paid holidays, sick time and vacation time for part time employees

Svantaggi

The company is cheap, both with employees and subjects, but the execs drive 3 BMWs a piece. The workload is insane, creeping into your off time and personal life, and keeps getting worse. Raises take forever (unless you are one of the owners kids) and managers and directors have cart blanche to behave like screaming loonatics as long as they have a good excuse, like being "stressed out". The rules change constantly and depend on the person/s involved - some people are allowed to advance quickly while others have to wait the "mandatory" waiting period. Training is a joke.

Vantaggi

Interesting work from day to day. Can be good if you want to get your feet wet in clinical research.

Svantaggi

Management is poor, nurses here are not respected, bare minimum training provided, clinical coordinators are not all on the same page (creating confusion for staff and subjects alike), and drama runs rampant (you will receive many vague emails from higher ups regarding random drama between other colleagues, making threats in order to get everyone to behave). Another word on the drama aspect - it is clearly not properly addressed, as when I was there it never actually was resolved. Among it all, you always had this one particular person who was basically the “puppet master”, stirring the pot, spreading rumors, particularly about certain supervisors. Talk about toxic. Priorities at this place when I was there were not at all where they should have been. Also, they would often pressure us to try and push subjects to agree to participate in a study, in order to fill as many studies as possible. Some of the clinical coordinators would get angry if all of the studies weren’t filling up. The purpose of informed consent is to let the possible “subject” make their own educated decision about participating in a research study. Not to try and coerce them into it. That just isn’t right, nor is it ethical.
