Svantaggi

I know what some of you might be thinking - probably the same thing I was thinking. 'How can a Sunday Times Best company to work for really be that bad? Surely these one star reviews are written by incompetent, crappy employees who just have an axe to grind?'. Let me start by asking you to use some basic logic. TPP requires it's employees for all positions to have high grades, to come from a top 100 university, occasionally to have competency in another language and to make it through a gruelling two stage interview process. Do you really think all these reviewers - the 20 plus people of aforementioned calibre (not to mention the dozens of unhappy current employees who are grinning and bearing life at TPP) could all be wrong? I have also since found out that TPP coerced employees into writing positive surveys for the Sunday Times Best Companies To Work For application. TPP is a bitter, toxic place to work where the company motto seems to be: "it's not for everyone". They think that by telling people this at the interview stage, it will sieve out the unsuitable candidates so only a suitable few remain. The problem is, there is no way of knowing if you are the 'right' type of person for this company or not - having worked there, I still don't know who, if anyone, is the right type of person for a company where employees are often swore at, pressured into confessions, humiliated, forced into volunteering free time and made to partake in witch hunts. And if you are deemed as being the 'wrong' kind of person by anyone more senior than you, the case to have you sacked will begin. Every mistake you make will be recorded until a case is strong enough to have you removed. Even people you thought were friends will be played against you. It's actually that bad! TPP, instead of swallowing it's pride, admitting it has a problem and endeavouring to solve it, has got around the issue of it's awful working environment in quite an ingenious way. Have you noticed that TPP has a preference for graduates with zero work experience? That's because these poor, unsuspecting fools have no frame of reference! They just assume that all companies must work like that. The best analogy I can think of is that of the poor virgin girl who marries an abusive husband through an arranged marriage. She puts up with the abuse and the mind games because she doesn't know any better. Well, if you are a grad and you are reading this, I am here to tell you that being treated with respect and dignity is a basic right as an employee in any quality company - you don't have to settle for this! They will tell you that your first year will be hell. They will tell you that if you can get through the horrible stage, things will get better - and maybe they will. But it will require you to become a part of the core staff; the people that have either accepted TPP for the miserable place that it is, or the ones that have graduated into the senior rank of 'Company Bully'. If you are willing to trade part of your soul to become either of those things, you'll do well at TPP. I have now been working at my new job for some time and I am so happy to say that I actually like my work! Where I work is fast paced and pressured, but the environment is positive - people actually smile and laugh together. There are no company politics. We aren't told we have to fit in or leave and we are spoken to with respect, as equals. This weird, army like mentality at TPP just isn't conducive to a happy work life. It's not 'businessy' - it's bull.
