Vantaggi
The people of Table XI are top-notch humans: smart and talented, of course, and also empathetic and authentic. They celebrate your successes, provide feedback to support your growth, and dive in to projects collaboratively. Table XI also does a solid job of vetting clients and projects. There are times when business realities mean we need to take work that isn't the top choice (see below), but for the most part, Table XI finds clients that want to work in a collaborative, user-focused, agile way, where we can dig in with them to solve challenging problems with unique solutions. Most specifically important to me: it's a great place to be a woman in tech. When I told leadership I was going to have a kid and wanted more maternity leave than the policy currently accounted for, they discussed and figured out a way to enhance the policy. (It's now 12 weeks fully paid, with an openness to discuss additional unpaid time off or part-time arrangements thereafter.) And when I came back from leave, rather than shoving me off on the "mommy track", they promoted me to the management team--and I still leave at 4 every day to pick up my kid from daycare with no eye-rolling or passive-aggressive comments. They appreciate that keeping the amazing people we have here involves making sure those people have good, sustainable, whole lives.
Svantaggi
Typical of any consultancy: There will sometimes be uninspiring projects or hard-to-work-with clients. That said, TXI does a good job of acknowledging when we're taking a project just to fill out the year rather than because it's highly aligned. It's a flat organization, so if you work best with a dedicated person-manager and a lot of structure or hierarchy, it's not the right place for you.
