Teams are running below capacity across the board with an outrageous number of projects and initiatives that exceed the capacity of the teams to deliver. A large number of initiatives never get delivered and those that do are usually left incomplete without any conclusion or followup. Teams have very little autonomy in decision making. There is a huge disconnect between the upper management and the boots on the ground. Middle management is usually powerless to make any actual impact. Every little decision needs to be escalated or projects risk getting stuck in a limbo. Pay is below average compared to the market. Promotion and evaluation criteria presented are a smoke-screen with a long and lengthy process for peer and self evaluation, with eventually little to no room for growth. For an annual performance grade of 4 on a scale of 0 to 5 the base salary raise “awarded” was 4%. Which is embarrassingly low for a grade which is supposedly assigned when you ‘exceed expectations’. No over-arching technical or product strategy, leadership or guidance. Any attempt to build, guide or create a strategy is thwarted by lengthy and inconclusive decision making, leading to a subpar output and perpetually conflicting directions. Lots of fancy presentations from the product and tech leadership, but when it comes down to execution it is complete chaos and increasingly outdated corporate style planning and execution. Currently the company is experiencing a large churn of new and old hires in product and tech largely due to the chaotic nature of the product and tech execution and management of resources.
