Vantaggi

Genuinely some of the closest friends I’ve made in a job I’ve met through Taphandles. Very custom products, many opportunities to be creative. Ok as a first job with short term expectations.

Svantaggi

The company has definitely become more corporate, but while attempting to keep the ‘family’ façade. Layoffs and replacements are very common without regard to how it affects the team (or at the very least does not seem there was any thought other than potential efficiency). If you are ok without great pay and have no expectations of making personal connections, not a big con. Job responsibilities often switched or added to without title or compensation adjustments- very common to have to take on another person’s entire job (even if it is in another department entirely). Entire system changes common at the whim of management.

Thank you for writing this, and for the years you gave the company. This review captures a real moment — and reading it back today, what stands out is how much of it has changed. The management team referenced here is no longer with the company. The processes have been rebuilt from the ground up. We replaced our ERP system with something genuinely easier to use. We left Seattle, relocated to Austin, and opened a second headquarters in Barcelona. The company today is profitable, growing, and on much steadier footing. None of that erases what the years described here felt like — but we did hear the feedback, and we acted on it. We wish you well.

Vantaggi

Coworkers are awesome, it's not unusual for us to hangout outside of work. It's fun to work in the beer/alcohol industry.

Svantaggi

- Head of the company fails to listen to employee needs, and says very off-putting things. - The micromanaging kept getting worse and worse and made employees feel like they can't be trusted, even after years of working there. Owner is convinced employees don't do their jobs are tries to find reasons to affirm his beliefs. - Job security is not guaranteed, especially to long-time workers. Owner will cut your position to save money and rehire right out of college. Also, if you said or did something to upset him, you're out without a moments notice. - Salary is okay for Seattle but not enough to live comfortably. - Company culture kept disintegrating as owner kept taking away freedoms as he saw fit.

Thank you for taking the time to share this. The transition from Seattle to Austin was a hard one, and we know it was harder still for team members who chose not to relocate. The company you describe is one we have worked deliberately to leave behind. We learned that running a company largely on remote work, with management disconnected from the day-to-day, did not serve our people or our customers well. In Austin and Barcelona we are building something different: an in-person, design-forward company where the work is visible, the expectations are clear, and good performance is recognized and rewarded. We are grateful for the strong friendships that came out of those years — many of them have lasted — and we wish every former teammate well.
