Senior leadership can be very arrogant and condescending regarding new ideas or challenges to current operational and leadership structures. This applies to talent/potential as well. Leadership (myself included) were inclined to believe their assessments of leadership potential were flawless. The reality as that we make tons of mistakes in assessing talent, acknowledging mistakes and supporting individuals will always lead to a stronger organization.
