Some really nice people there. In some areas, work/life balance isn’t too bad. Cell phone reimbursement for some employees is a great perk. Vending machines that let you buy sandwiches, salads, and snacks. Occasional company-wide lunch events, although sometimes you have to pay for it.

Targus is a poor career option for anyone interested in acquiring new skills, utilizing best practices, and/or staying relevant within their field. Tools and processes are antiquated, and the office environment is dirty and dated having been largely unchanged in decades. The management team is widely inexperienced and tends to act more like individual contributors than leaders who inspire, develop, and mentor their employees. There is no strategic long-term planning and certainly no investment in the future. Shady business practices also aren’t uncommon. For example, some employees write product reviews under pseudonyms and don’t include a disclosure regarding their employment connection as expressly stated in the FTC guidelines on endorsements. So if you’re in the early to middle stages of your career, I would recommend avoiding Targus for your next career move. Otherwise, once you eventually leave, you’ll find that you’re the same person, professionally speaking, that you were going in while the rest of the world has evolved. But if you’re desperate for work, or not that interested in career growth, Targus isn’t too bad of a place. After all, many of the people are nice on a personal level, the hours aren’t unbearable, and the upside of working at a company that doesn’t place quality on a pedestal is the lack of pressure to do more than check the box.
