-Empowerment: At TATCHA, your managers believe in your potential to achieve things you didn’t even know you could do. The CEO of the company is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met. She truly believes in the potential of those she hires. Her trust in her employees’ abilities is incredibly empowering and liberating. You have the rare freedom to test out your ideas, try new things you never thought you could do, and push your own boundaries because you are encouraged to do so every day, and there is no red tape holding you back. -Flat organization: Having worked at many so-called “flat organizations,” I never believe people when they say their organizations are “flat” because let’s be honest, that’s almost never the case. But I am happy to say I finally found an organization that is as flat as a company can be with minimal hierarchy at TATCHA. Leaders of this company truly believe in the collective power of the people they have hired. Employees’ opinions don’t just get “air-time” – they are truly heard and seriously considered. A good idea is a good idea no matter who it comes from. The leaders of the company set a really great example of this at every meeting, where they genuinely ask employees for feedback and truly respect their opinions. -Commitment to excellence: Everyone at TATCHA is a superstar at what they do, and can probably get paid more doing it somewhere else. But we choose to do what we do at TATCHA because we believe in our products, our brand, the CEO’s vision, and most importantly, we believe in our incredibly capable teammates. Every day at work is intense and busy because you are surrounded by people that truly care about what they do and are extremely motivated to not only get the job done right, but to exceed expectations. This is a culture committed to excellence, and everyone at TATCHA always wants to be their personal best. This culture is not for everyone, but for those willing to bring 100% to work every day and pour their hearts into building a company with an awesome team of extremely motivated, smart, and passionate people, TATCHA is an absolute gold mine. - Family-like environment: Besides being very capable and committed, all of our colleagues are extremely respectful, kind-hearted, funny, and caring. We work hard, but we have fun while we are at it. Work-related drama is not tolerated and really frowned upon by the leaders of the company. The team truly feels like a close-knit family. We back each other up and we can be ourselves because we know that our colleagues will appreciate us for who we are. -Real impact: At TATCHA, you will never feel as if the work you do is “busy work” or won’t make a real impact. This is because we are growing so quickly there is no time for work that doesn’t make a real impact. You will know that every bit of your work and effort counts, and that everything you do has rewards and consequences. While this level of responsibility can be scary for some, for those who are up for it, it is tremendously energizing and motivating. -Opportunity to grow: Working at one of the fastest growing beauty brands in the industry means limitless opportunity to grow with the company. If you demonstrate your potential, you will be rewarded with more responsibility, and the sky is truly the limit in terms of where you can go and what you can do. Sheryl Sandberg has been quoted many times saying “If offered a seat on a rocket ship, get on, don’t ask what seat.” TATCHA is a rocket ship. For those who are up for the challenge, this is a place where careers can be accelerated and growth is a given. -Work-Life Balance: Working at any growing company is demanding and stressful, and TATCHA is no different. But while the job can be overwhelming at times, managers at TATCHA are hyper-aware of the health and well-being of their employees – more so than any other place I have worked before. Burning out at a startup is a very real issue, and the leaders of this company take this seriously. Vacations are encouraged, time after work and weekends are very much respected, and most importantly, everyone is very flexible and understanding of your personal life commitments. Leaders of this company understand that the best employees are the ones who are happy and fulfilled in their personal lives, and they do everything they can to help employees “have it all”.

-Ambiguity: As with all start-ups, there is a greater amount of uncertainty and unknown in everything you do compared to more established companies. It’s harder to know “what’s next” at a growing brand than an established brand, and to be happy at a place like this, one needs to have a certain level of comfort with the unknown. However, having been at the company since the very early days, I can confidently say the amount of uncertainty and ambiguity have declined at an impressive pace, mostly because the company’s leaders are serious about building a company that will last in the long run, and they are very smart about building structure where it’s needed. -Not a typical SF company: Unlike many SF tech companies, there are no lavish holiday parties at museums, no free Cross Fit classes, no free lunch served every day, no snacks laying around everywhere (although my colleagues regularly bring in baked goods and other yummy snacks to share with everyone), no other non-essential special perks and benefits. This is something to consider for those looking for these types of benefits at work. But there is a gym and yoga spot across the street, a lot of healthy and yummy food options around the office, and most importantly, we still had the best holiday party at the coziest, cutest restaurant with really delicious food. Again, for those looking for that small, tight-knit family vibe, TATCHA can really be the perfect fit.
