they will claim untracked/unlimited PTO, but if you try to take it, your commitment to the team is questioned. They will tell you that you are doing great in 1:1s and then fire you without notice or cause. 80-90% of the engineering team is looking for new positions at their one-year mark. 12 hour days and weekends for the next foreseeable future (They claim it's just through tax season, but there is always something that comes up). When they opened the Seattle office, the culture turned toxic. They underpay because they expect the shares to retain employees, however, they dish out small amounts of shares. They offer monetary prizes in crypto but are slow to payout. There is a major rivalry between the Seattle and Utah offices and management is ignoring any and all complaints with outright denial of issues. Almost every woman there is underpaid SEVERELY, even the women leading teams have men reporting to them making more money. Female engineers are making insultingly low salaries, <$50k, while they hire male interns at 70k. Reporting the issues to the minimal HR dept. seems to get you no where. In short, they lean on women's expertise and LOVE to brag about having women in leadership, but underpay them and don't bat an eye about it. The company as a whole runs off hype, and they will guilt you into overworking yourself. If you try to leave, they will guilt you into staying by trying to convince you that working for a unicorn makes up for the mistreatment. At one point the company had great diversity numbers, great satisfaction rates, awesome culture, and genuine leadership, but it's obvious they no longer care. If you are looking to join, do your homework and negotiate a fair offer and hold them responsible. If you join the Utah team, know that the middle management/original management are truly caring and want to help everyone succeed, but they are exhausted and have their hands tied 90% of the time to make any real change. The Seattle team treats the Utah team like "dumb hicks". If you join Seattle team, just know that you will have a frat boy mentality there with constant drinking on the clock to fit into the boys club the company as a whole has fostered. If that doesn't bother you, you'll probably be ok. Career advancement is non-exsistent unless you are part of the boys club, or willing to suck up for approval. They'll just outsource your job otherwise.
