Vantaggi
They responded to my initial email enquiry within literally 5 minutes and after one simply 30 minute meeting (pending references) I was in schools instantly. They offer an excellent rate of daily pay and every single staff member I have dealt with is helpful, friendly and treats you as an individual. At the Nottingham Branch, Kirsty and Jason in particular have helped me a lot with regard to getting me into a wide variety of schools and as often as possible. The company is very flexible indeed, I can work as little or as much as I wish (barring holidays and the first couple of weeks back as schools are still getting back on their feet). All in all, a very positive experience. Would recommend to any teachers considering supply work!
Svantaggi
Not so much a slight at the company but with supply in general is that you don't have a guaranteed income so throughout the summer and Christmas for example you have no income. However if you're smart with your money then the overall income you make can stretch easily enough to cover bills etc during those months. The only point that I feel Teacheractive could improve is the petrol allowance. It is very inconsistent when and how you are allowed petrol money. I always have to ask for it and would like some clarity on when I am entitled to it. Suggested systems either claim back petrol money per mile each week/month or if the teachers round trip to work is over an hour then a £10 supplement should be allowed and then increased at £5 intervals per half hour. If you know teachers addressed and school addresses use google maps to work out round trip distance and apply funds accordingly. I myself have been given £7, £10 and £12.50 petrol money added to my daily pay for a range of inconsistent distances. For example £10 was given for a hour and a half round trip whereas £7 was given for a 2 hour round trip (including traffic). A minor improvement point that I hope can be ironed out soon.
