Techmodal has lots of friendly and brilliant people with technical skill and social rapport. The projects are almost always low stress (defence clients are easily impressed). Free pizza...! Can be a good first job after uni as a grad to get some experience under your belt.
Svantaggi
Salary is well below the market rate leading to people leaving after a short tenure. Promotion is weighted towards people doing informal 'lunch and learns' and who you know rather than hard work and dedication - nothing surprising but this leaves a lot of talented peopled fed up when yet again they are not promoted. Lunch and Learn? More like brunch and boredom. Projects are always slow and have terrible resourcing - project managers at TM (yes they have a whole team 'capability' for that) are a real hinderance and seemingly every project has one, including small internal ones?! Tribal culture and lack of team leadership gives no source of hope as an employee. The churn rate at TM is incredibly high, and not just at the lower grades. It appears to be increasing as of now. Work tends to be very repetitive project to project, with the most basic solution offered to the client dressed up to look fancy. I'm currently working on a project that has me feeling like I am on the set of Groundhog Day. Loads of people 'on the bench' who are not on billable work, essentially doing internal projects that are aimless. This can go on for months.
