Vantaggi
-Quality Director was great to work with
-Quality department staffed with fantastic folks who are very intelligent and work hard.
-My career development was taken into account and I got some great guidance with it.
-Free turkey for Thanksgiving and a free ham for Easter.
-The day before a major holiday some sites will let you go halfway through the day and pay you for the whole day.
-If the holiday falls on a Thursday they typically won't bother opening the next day so you'll occasionally get a four day weekend
Svantaggi
-Overall culture at some sites includes resistance to change, misogyny, lack of care for safety.
-Politics should be kept out of professional working spaces and that is not done here. Certain employees will be very loud about their personal political beliefs in a way that makes others feel uncomfortable.
-Blatant racism, misogyny, and other intolerant beliefs.
-The "bonus" Fridays you get off after a Thursday holiday come out of your PTO, they don't pay for that day. I prefer to choose what my vacation days go towards, not use them to cover a day the facility is not even open.
-When it comes to resources, they are cheap. This means sometimes equipment and instruments are frequently old and you're not going to get a current model until that one breaks down to the point of not functioning.
-Pay here is straight up BAD. Below projected salary ranges for RI in pretty much every position there. I started there as a lab tech-they wanted to pay me $18/hr despite my experience. I was able to get it to $20, but that is still below the average for entry level and I was at least intermediate level at the time.
-Frequently will aquire employees through temp agencies. When the employees are hired on permanently they stay at the same rate they were paid through the temp agency.
-Some of the safety practices gave me concerns, which is extra alarming considering several sites manufacture chemical products.
