Fully paid family health care, vision, dental; great retirement pension. The pros stop there.

Terrible pay - and management knows this. They always remind you that the benefits and retirement is great, and it is...but people have to live. Absolutely ZERO training. I asked for training multiple times, never happened. Micro-management at it's finest. I thought I was back in the 8th grade on multiple occasions. Absolutely zero chance for advancement, or even a raise. The employee performance reviews are an absolute joke - and nothing is based on it. Some of the managers there are good people, and do good work - but there are some that are absolutely awful and have no idea how to manage people or even the work. The culture there is one of fear - managers don't want to make a decision, and often cannot, without upper management signing off. Forget about ever trying to recommend or change things, nobody wants to hear it - "This is the way we have always done it," is what you'll hear. The employee turnover over the last year has been extremely high - and a normal person would think that management would do something to stop this, but NOPE. They just "keep on keeping on", and the turnover keeps going on too.

Because the retirement and healthcare benefits are so good, the actual salary is lower than some expect.

It is pretty rare to find an employee owned company in the defense space, and so if you have the chance to interview here, do it. Employer paid health premiums, 15% automatic retirement contribution (not a match- just free money) plus free equity. Work life balance is solid although it will depend on your team.

Salaries are low to account for benefits- you absolutely will get paid more for the same role at another company. Company is also a slow and careful mover. You will watch your stock options appreciate in value slowly when you know they could be going faster. But it is safe. Not much room to grow quickly without relocating
