Management is in such a hurry to get new products out the door, they don't give the engineers enough time to do the job right anymore. A lot of good engineers have left the company, because they're tired of putting out crappy products that could have been really great. Also, if you're not a "professional" (i.e. marketing manager, engineer, or program manager), management isn't that interested in helping you further your education or career goals.
