Different divisions treat their people differently - Recensione dipendente - Staff Geologist presso Tetra Tech

Vantaggi

Tetra Tech has many different offices and many different divisions which does provide for a lot of opportunity. Many people change divisions to either change where they live or what they do. Many offices are work-at-home/work remote friendly.

Svantaggi

The divisions don't treat their employees the same. One division may have benefits another does not have/offer. Some divisions provide cell phones or company trucks while others do not so you may end up loosing benefits if you do transfer divisions. Work-at-home/work remote employees often find themselves light on work, always asking for work, not being supported in career advancement opportunities, feeling left out or forgotten about and missing training opportunities. Raises/salary reviews/adjustments rarely reflect the division's success for the junior staff for many divisions which are top-heavy. The project managers get large bonuses and raises while the junior staff essentially gets very little reward or acknowledgement for their work, especially if they are work-at-home/work remote friendly.

Vantaggi

Hired as a "fire-hire," the position is disaster based and 100% travel so you get to travel domestically paid for by the company. When working, pay is good, you can make a lot very quickly with overtime. Being part-time, I can take time-off whenever I want for as long as I want.

Svantaggi

For my position, no natural disasters = no work. Living out of a hotel for months SUCKs and burn-out is real as you could be working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day for months on end. There's no added compensation for taking on an on-site lead position even though the workload triples. As a part-time employee, you have to pay more for benefits when working versus not working. There's a huge disconnect between part-time employees in the field and the full-time employees that do office work and upper management. Part-time workers are not prioritized unless they're willing to do whatever is thrown at them without complaints. The employee turn-over rate in the field is crazy.
