Vantaggi

Good work life balance, salary is fairly competitive, at least when you hire in. Benefits are decent, not excellent. PTO (personal time off) is very generous. Tuition reimbursement is awesome. Some IS positions allow remote work which is a nice perk.

Svantaggi

THR is technically a non-profit, but in practice that is in name only. They are the most profit-minded non-profit I've ever seen. CEO and executive salaries are simply ridiculous, some of the highest in all of North Texas, even including for-profit companies. 6 million for the CEO in 2009 (this is public information, not an insider secret). Ridiculous. They say they have a culture of caring, but in reality they are quick to lay off regular employees, but not executives, as soon as there is a hiccup in the numbers. If they really cared about their employees they wouldn't have to keep telling you how much they care. Layoffs happen about every 3 years, and it's just luck of the draw if you get cut. Unless you know somebody. With 600 IS employees, the organization is too big to remember an individual's long-term contributions and loyalty. It doesn't matter how many amazing things you've done, as soon as a new management team comes in you could be out the door. Unless you know somebody. Upper management in IS is VERY political and they tend to be loyal only to their inner circle.
