Due to recent policy written by Chancellor Creighton, we are not allowed to teach any material in any class which discusses sex, gender, or sexuality. This has had a negative impact on courses across the university including biology, genetics, ag leadership, human development, human resources, English, psychology, sociology, social work, and more. Our syllabi have to be vetted by the Board of Regents who have admitted to using AI to determine if assigned content is allowable or not. The policy is also impacting grad students. Grad students admitted before the April 9th, 2026 memorandum date can do research of their choosing. Students admitted after the date can no longer do any research related to sex, gender, and sexuality. Censorship at every level. Ineffective leadership at every level. Students dropping out or deciding not to attend. Students worried about not being able to pass licensing exams that cover sex, gender, and sexuality or not being hired by employers who know they weren't educated about sex, gender, and sexuality. Faculty looking for jobs elsewhere and quitting. Newly hired faculty changing their minds and deciding not to take positions Tech offered them. Multiple academic associations have written letters calling for the end of fascist policies. Professors and administration worried the university might lose accreditation.
