Vantaggi
We perform a greatly needed service and work with some of the best people I've even known. Donors are a lot of fun to interact with and we have many regulars which love to put smiles on our faces. Great benefits and some departments have amazing management (just not mine). Their PTO accrual and 401K are amazing.
Svantaggi
While there are some managers within the company who are amazing, others are a nightmare to work under. You tend to get a lot of conflicting information in this role. Many of the managers are new, inexperienced in this field, and truly have no clue what they are doing. As a result, turnover in this role is high. You have to be able to lift and carry a lot of heavy supplies sometimes for half a mile or more depending on parking at your events. You will be using your own vehicle to carry everything around in. You get a corporate card, but end up using your own and getting reimbursed when yours is either maxed out from the pitifully small limit or doesn't work at a retailer unexpectedly. You'll be working outside almost daily in all weather conditions. Hope you enjoy micromanagers because your every decision will be examined and questioned every step of the way. You're expected to roll with changes in policy, which happen at the whim of your manager, and daily conference calls, regardless if you're at a busy blood drive. If you want a true day off, you have to use PTO to remain unbothered by your manager for a whole day, and even that isn't guaranteed (one of my coworkers was being pestered with texts and emails even when they were on PTO).
