Worked from home since 2012 and successfully grew my career in that time and now the company is requiring everyone to go into offices (even though they closed many offices and many of us would be commuting 3 hours round trip) Lay offs by company leaders who didn't completely understand the work in organizations and the impact that the lay offs would have to projects and other roles. Work-life balance completely ruined due to commuting, taking time away from families to commute, and employees having to do 2-3 other roles on top of their own due to lay offs and short-staffed. Use the excuse that "networking" is why the requirement to return to the office but many of us don't work with people aligned to the same office. Longer project implementation due to new office requirements (travel, unavailability, etc.) Minimized opportunity for growth by requiring leadership roles to be in specific locations when we were all previously remote Not willing to pay someone their valued salary (usually 70% of their market value) but still expecting them to do 2 other roles. Bonus values skeptical - exceeded expectations but wasn't compensated in the bonus as such Typical 3% merit increase annually doesn't cover increasing costs of health insurance or inflation Company doted on the fact that it WAS one of the best places to work with the best work-life balance and a year later completely destroyed that.
