Vantaggi
- There were some competent consultants/coworkers, but they often did not last long at the program due to mismanagement and maltreatment of employees. - There was potential for positive clinical casework and impact to improve the child welfare system, but it was constantly negated by management's total lack of qualification to develop and run a clinical program and hire appropriate staff.
Svantaggi
"PAC" stands for Power and Control, which is deeply ironic considering management displayed the same abusive characteristics they are supposed to be addressing in their program's batterer intervention services. - Management hired their unqualified friends; one of the friends in a supervisory position lied about their clinical licensure and was allowed to continue employment with no consequences. - Consultants were frequently more credentialed, experienced, knowledgeable, and qualified than their supervisors and management. - There were no opportunities for growth, professional learning, or competent supervision. - There was no HR department. None. - Certain members of upper management were known to make extremely sexist comments about female staff both in their presence and to their male coworkers when they were not present. - It was a consistently hostile work environment with verbal/emotional abuse of employees by supervisor/management. - Benefits were expensive, substandard, and in some cases did not meet legal requirements. - There were problems with pay being issued correctly or on time; management lied or avoided responding to employees in these situations, and there was no payroll department. - During a situation when a supervisor was harassing and endangering employees to a point requiring police involvement, employees requested that upper management address the behaviors. Their response was instead to interrogate and intimidate the employees, and no appropriate action was taken.
