Vantaggi
You will certainly learn a lot here. You’ll meet a few very talented and amazing individuals who somehow manage to keep things running. You’ll wear multiple hats on a wide range of tasks because they like to keep a lean team. You can learn a lot from senior employees, whether it's how to handle high-stress situations or navigate company politics. Employee turnover is very high, so you’ll get to meet new coworkers often. They prefer to hire those right out of college to keep costs low. Leadership likes to be very hands on with their employees, they even go as far as to telling people who they should or should not talk to in the office. One big perk is the office speakeasy, where they throw employee happy hours and events to help ease the effects of the melancholy tone of the office. The work-life balance is really great due to the fact that there aren’t many clients around. “That’s how we’ve always done it” is the motto of this company, even in dark times, which provides a sense stability among older employees.
Svantaggi
A very traditional environment where company politics and high school type drama thrive. The new leadership team states endlessly that they value a positive office culture, however closed-door conversations seem to be of more importance. There is also a total lack of processes which not only hurts employees, but the outcomes for clients as well. Accountability doesn’t seem to exist for upper management—they’re more focused on keeping up appearances. They don’t believe in setting boundaries with clients, which pushes the account service team beyond limits and is damaging to the creative team. As for benefits, they’re pretty old-school. Remote work does not exist here, there’s no 401k match, minimal PTO, and no paid parental leave (unless you schmooze with the CEO upon hiring; does not apply to current employees). How you are treated is based on how much they personally like you. You will often be put in the middle of conflicts and will stay frozen as you feel screwed no matter what you do. They will not hire middle management. They constantly dangle opportunities in front of you hoping it will keep you around, however, those promises or grand ideas never come to fruition.
