Management shouldn’t be allowed to plan a church carnival, let alone public transit. - Recensione dipendente - Administrative presso The Ride

Vantaggi

Benefits and absent management leads to flexible schedule, as long as you work in management. By the looks of it one can be incompetent, incapable and underperform for years with no risk of losing your job.

Svantaggi

Incredibly frustrating if you want to improve mass transit. CEO is questionable at best and gone for a month at a time. Where? No one is sure. He doesn’t seem to like anyone but other middle aged able bodied white men. There’s lots of work because turnover is chaotic. The Board of Directors has no idea. It’s a toxic work environment, but don’t go to HR about it because they are working hard to incubate it. Pay isn’t equitable and it is thick with micro aggressions.

Operational Feedback for Management Review This feedback is intended to highlight areas for potential improvement within current operational practices and contractual interpretations. Work-Life Balance and Scheduling: Vacation Day Utilization: The current system for requesting and approving vacation days appears to offer limited flexibility, which can impact employee morale and work-life balance. Split Shifts and Layovers: Many routes lack integrated layover times, and the frequent use of extended split shifts contributes to long and demanding workdays. This structure can lead to fatigue and reduced efficiency. Last-Minute Schedule Changes: There is a recurring issue with employees being notified of mandatory work assignments on their scheduled days off with very short notice (e.g., the day before). This practice disrupts personal plans and creates an unpredictable work environment. Inconsistent Scheduling: Employee schedules often vary significantly day-to-day, with start times fluctuating widely (e.g., 8 AM one day, 2 PM the next). This inconsistency can make it difficult for employees to maintain a consistent routine and manage personal commitments. Training and Safety: Training Program Effectiveness: The current training program's efficacy is a concern, particularly regarding route familiarization. There appears to be an emphasis on speed over thorough instruction, which may hinder trainees' ability to fully grasp essential operational details. Safety vs. Customer Experience Prioritization: Observations suggest that customer experience metrics may be prioritized over safety protocols, particularly within the training department and management decisions. This could lead to an environment where safety procedures are not as rigorously emphasized as they should be. Compensation and Contract Adherence: Compensation Accuracy: There are perceived discrepancies in pay calculations, with employees feeling that their compensation is frequently adjusted downwards for minor issues. A review of payroll practices and clarification on deduction policies would be beneficial. Contractual Compliance: Concerns exist regarding the consistent application and adherence to the terms outlined in the employee contract. A transparent review of how contractual provisions, especially those related to "operational needs," are interpreted and applied would be valuable. Facility and Resource Considerations: Lunch Break Logistics: The location of extended lunch breaks, particularly in Ypsilanti, often places employees far from their personal vehicles, which can lead to inconvenience and additional logistical challenges during breaks. Vehicle Comfort: While subjective, feedback suggests that the comfort level of some buses could be improved, which impacts driver well-being during long shifts.
