Vantaggi
The job is straightforward: you scan Amazon returns, you ring customers up for shipping and printing, you print off things for people. Once you learn it, it’s muscle memory. Every once in a while, customers ship something interesting. Some customers are nice and pleasant and you can establish relationships with regulars/mailbox holders. Job will offer consistent hours, with inconsistent days.
Svantaggi
The customers are rude, entitled, and belligerent at points. Amazon customers argue with you at every turn, often don’t know how to work their returns and shove their phone in your face for you to do it, fight with you over packaging, etc. Shipment customers are often just as bad, as they complain about the cost of shipping and packaging without fail. You WILL be arguing with customers, likely daily. To make matters worse, the pay is awful. You can’t support yourself on the money you get paid at The UPS Store. Opportunities for promotion are limited, and since it’s a franchise model it’s more of a buddy system than a meritocracy. There are NO benefits unless you’re upper level management, and even then they’re very limited. You will have to accept AT&T and Spectrum returns that are dirty, full of bugs, etc. To top it all off, the turnover rate is high, so you’ll likely have a constant flow of new coworkers who will quit without notice because the job is that bad. You will likely be working weekends often.
