At first, the onboarding experience feels exciting. Leadership shares the mission with enthusiasm and quickly gets new hires bought in. And truthfully, buy-in is essential if you want to succeed anywhere. Unfortunately, the red flags begin to appear soon after. Turnover is extraordinarily high. As many others have noted, the expectation is 9am to 9pm, or later. When the CEO is in the office, it’s common for people to stay past 10pm, and leaving at 9pm earns you the reputation of being a slacker. The company tends to hire finance graduates and place them in cold-calling roles, regardless of background or skill set, largely because they are accustomed to long hours. On some days, the CEO even sits at the entrance, effectively monitoring when people arrive, which contributes to a culture of surveillance rather than trust. At the core, the model remains a traditional contingent labor approach: high turnover, aggressive sales tactics, and a culture that prioritizes optics over substance. They present themselves as different, but once you look beyond the surface, the offering is almost indistinguishable from countless other digital staffing platforms facing the exact same challenges. The organization leans heavily on buzzwords and jargon in its pitch, much of which feels disconnected from the actual needs of operators. The language sounds impressive in theory, but when you strip it down, it doesn’t translate into meaningful solutions or tangible improvements in day-to-day operations. For example, terms like “AI-driven vetting,” “revolutionizing labor,” or “disrupting the staffing industry” are thrown around constantly, but those phrases rarely align with what customers or employees actually experience. It’s also important to mention that employees are strongly encouraged, if not outright required, to leave reviews and social media posts immediately upon joining. On my first day, we were instructed to publish a LinkedIn post with a specific script provided by the company. Given that practice, it’s not surprising to see an abundance of overly positive reviews on Glassdoor that don’t reflect the day-to-day reality. Would love the Traba account to respond on this with something like "Oh were the 1%, a high performing team, and were building something generational, were on the road to 1 trillion, rocket ship, playing for the front of the jersey....

Traba is filled with some of the best talent in the startup ecosystem, the alumni network is already incredible, and you get to work alongside sharp people every day. The hours are long, but you get close to the people around you and end up having a lot of fun in the process. At Traba, you accomplish in a week what most companies take three to do. Yet it can still feel slow sometimes, because the lift is genuinely greater than at any typical SaaS business, we're actively trying to solve labor. This is a high-intensity environment, and the 996 mentality is not performative. If you want to learn and grow fast, there is no better place. A few years here is enough to have real impact and become the kind of operator every company wants to hire. Leadership understands that 80-hour weeks are hard and that not everyone can sustain that pace indefinitely, they're respectful of that reality, when people eventually leave. Coming from a large fund where I also worked hard and learned a lot, the comparison still isn't close. I'm glad every day that I made the leap, as demanding as it is.

A few structural things that can make Traba tough. Engineering prioritization sometimes feels misaligned with operational needs. The bigger-picture tooling the business actually needs — worker acquisition, quality screening, communication infrastructure — feels underbuilt, while incremental work gets praised regardless of its impact. Operational failures tend to land on the ops and sales teams rather than being addressed at the source. Middle management is surprisingly fragmented for a company of 70 people. Senior leadership rarely engages with ICs directly, even informally, despite sitting a few desks away. Decisions occasionally land that feel disconnected from day-to-day reality, and because teams aren't consulted or even warned beforehand, pushback tends to get read as insubordination. This distance is, in my view, the root cause of most of the attrition here.

Traba offers opportunities that other companies simply don't. Whether you have 20 years of experience or are a new grad, leadership makes it clear that age isn't a factor when it comes to scope, and that they reward those who step up. They don't just promise a reward and fail to execute on it, they actually follow through by offering career growth at a pace that is extremely rare. Truthfully, if you are a top performer and want to be rewarded for the work you put in with a better title, higher salary, and more equity, Traba offers all of that. You simply need to put in the work. I wouldn't sit here and say it isn't tough at times, but you are given one life, so why not be the best version of yourself? When it comes to career growth, ownership, cash, and equity, Traba delivers.

Work life balance can be tough at times, but if you want to be the greatest and create generational wealth, you need to sacrifice work life balance while you don't have real responsibilities and can just build. The hours are tough, the pressure is real, you will be challenged, and you will see people who can't handle the environment. That's fine, because truly it isn't built for everyone, otherwise there would be a company like Traba on every corner. Over time, work life balance has become more realistic compared to when I first started.
