Due to the high attrition rate one can advance fairly quickly. The problem is, you will never be paid fairly for your new responsibilities and increased workload. Management will never deliver on their promise of proper compensation. They'll tell you that raise is coming in the fall, then it will be smaller than promised (or no raise at all). They'll then tell you that big profit sharing cheque is coming your way, then they'll lay you off or fire you before they have to pay it to you!

Unfair treatment, poor pay, blatant favoritism, management who promise raises and do not deliver, executives who delight in belittling and humiliating staff, toxic work environment, an owner who has nothing but contempt for his employees.
