Vantaggi
In general, they are a great group of people (staff and clients) to work with.
Svantaggi
Do not believe the recent glowing reviews, the majority of them were either solicited or written by members of the management team. If you choose not to heed that bit of advice, and you accept a position with Transfinder, save your personal days. You will need them to look for another job. They like to brag about their $7M building. It is a relatively nice building. It’s too bad that atmosphere is toxic. They are a “global” software company that utilizes software programs that are almost 20 years old, and freeware that they download from the internet, to perform daily tasks. All companies try to do more with less, but they take it to a whole new level. Regardless of someone’s job title they could and most likely will end up monitoring the front door, answering the main telephone line, resolving support tickets, performing quality assurance testing, generating sales leads, and much much more, to the detriment of their own job. There is no racial diversity in their workforce. They recently hired their first black employee in at least seven years, and also have only one Hispanic employee. They needed a bilingual trainer; they hired a Caucasian male with a degree in Spanish. Only 1/3 of the employees are women, and an even smaller percentage hold management positions, and there are no women on the executive team. That may be why they felt no need for a New Mother’s Room. Employees may or may not get their performance reviews on time, it depends on their manager, and how much or how little respect they have for their staff. Some have none. Employees also should not expect a merit increase in a timely manner, because as one manager stated, they are too busy. You may or may not get a year end bonus ($1000 before taxes), but if you don’t, you won’t find out until two weeks before Christmas, if they bother to let you know at all. It’s never been guaranteed, but after a certain number of years, it’s a reasonable expectation. To add insult to injury, they will have the nerve to brag about their recordbreaking year. Staff who work in the Client Services Department cannot take a summer vacation. When it gets cold, and they finally do get to go on vacation, management will call, text, and email them. They even consider it perfectly acceptable to require their employees to work while they are away. Not only is there no opportunity for employees to learn anything new that is of value in the rest of the software industry, but what skills they do have, become rusty or even worse, obsolete, if they hang around too long. The only time that the work schedule is flexible, is when it benefits them. Employees come in early, work through lunch (they actually suggested that), stay late, as well as work from home, but if they come in a few minutes late one day, they have to charge their personal or vacation time. They cannot make it up, not that they should have to as salaried employees. At lunch time, employees must choose between running errands, or eating lunch, because they only have 30 minutes, not 31, not 32 or more (they monitor it using IM), and they are not supposed to eat at their desks. Those who travel on a regular basis, are expected to give up their entire Sunday to travel if need be, but if they’re lucky, and their plane gets in after midnight when they return, they will get a whole hour and a half off the next morning. They are also expected to go into the office for as long as possible prior to leaving, when they travel on a week day. They then often end up arriving after dark in a strange city, and having to drive an hour or two, possibly in bad weather, to get to their hotel. They are more concerned about someone trying to expense a cup of coffee. In the end, there will be no exit interview as the employee handbook states. They don’t need to know why someone is leaving. It is because they don’t want to work hard as far as they're concerned. There will be no going away party like at most companies. Contact with clients will cease immediately, because they are afraid of what someone might say or do. They seem to be aware of how disgruntled their employees are. Those who are really lucky get walked out like common criminals with two weeks pay.
