Vantaggi

other case managers and a lot of team members worked well together. my supervisors were extremely helpful and answered questions no matter what. the ceo is an amazing woman who is nothing more than helpful. getting to help people can be very rewarding and you make bonds with people very quickly. i like that i could kinda set my schedule between 7-5, so if i had a client appointment at 730, i could leave at 330 if my work was done for the day, so i didnt have to put in 10 hour days. its a throw in kind of work place, so if you don't do well having to figure things out, then this definitely isnt for you. People are more than happy to help but there just isnt much training, so its important to learn as you go. the great thing about this job though is that if you are a compassionate and PATIENT person, you will probably succeed. clients can actually be pretty helpful when it comes to directions to places and generally helpful about the area. again its just important to ask management or coworkers for help when you need it. best way is to set up meetings with supervisors to talk 1x a week about any questions. Overall i really enjoyed coming and working at the office. most people had a good attitude which made it easier when dealing with severe issues.

Svantaggi

the stress can be a lot. having to meet with clients and keep up with paperwork can become overwhelming in the beginning and its important to keep up with it, even if that means staying after or coming in early. the jobs requires to constantly travel to low income homes, bad areas, and unsanitary conditions. if you become easily sickened, not for you. unfortunately, the nursing staff is the most difficult team to work with. they will tell you what you and your client 'need to do' so its important not to take it personally, or at least thats the best way to deal with it. there is a lot of sensitive information you deal with, such as suicides and death and drugs and abuse. its hard not to take it home, and it can be very emotionally draining. although as i said before, my coworkers made it bearable and doable when times were tough.

Vantaggi

The Administration and employees are amazing. Pay is way low, even by non for profit standards. Benefits are great, especially the 4O3b. Areas that need restructuring, case management. You will not meet a more awesome group of individuals.

Svantaggi

Pay and the way case management is structured and trained. High turnover.

Vantaggi

Rewarding work as you assist individuals who struggle maintaining in the community and help get their life back on track.

Svantaggi

Management places a heavy emphasis on transporting clients to the point you feel like a taxi service masked under the title of "mental health services". If clients have appointments with TLCs medical staff you are obligated (basically forced) to bring the clients to these appointments and transport folks home. Mileage is below the federal rate and management recently suspended reimbursement but has not suspended the expectation to transport. Flat tires, bed bug exposure and clients who demonstrate poor hygiene make transporting unbearable at times.
