Vantaggi
-High quality (MN Bride Award Winning) product and very fun experience for clients. Adorable Booths and the converted Camper Booth is incredible!
-Good control over your own schedule, and the online platform ZipSchedules on Hubworks is great.
-Small monthly bonuses, but randomized to only two employees/month.
-A fairly simple (but heavy) machine to set up. No need for experience working with computers or in photography, but it helps.
-Events can be fun.
-Tips can be great.
-Constant communication. Which is good day to day for housekeeping and scheduling, and during events for tech support on-location.
-An attitude that the product and business can always be improved, and a willingness to listen to employee feedback (seeing action/changes based on feedback is a different story, a much slower process, if action is taken at all)
Svantaggi
-Low hourly pay. With a decade of photography and event experience, I had to negotiate to start at 18.50/hour (and never had a raise). The hiring post they currently have on the local Craigslist site reads "18/hour plus tips."
-Very disorganized.
-Available hours vary seasonally.
-Camera surveillance throughout building, GPS tracking in vehicles.
-A micromanaging owner.
-I never felt trusted.
-Mostly 2nd shift hours, but some overnight (3rd) shifts for which they do not offer double time or even time and a half.
-Working major holidays (4th of July, NYE) with no double time/time and a half.
-Advertises (on their currently posted ad) "generous raises to great employees," but no follow through on that promise.
-No room for advancement.
-More often than fun, events can be difficult and draining. Working weddings and high-end events for the inebriated elite, for such little pay, is challenging.
-Tips, though not rare, are not common, either.
