High turnover, little to no back of house infrastructure, and inefficient technology that allows for little to no automation or even accurate reporting and analysis. The turnover makes it impossible to implement improvements, you just end up having to constantly fight the same battles with new faces weekly while those resistant to such changes are the only ones who seem to stay setting the initiatives up for failure as they train the next wave of end users. Lack of any real types of policies and procedures for anything other than sales, zero accounting controls or separation of duties. Finance and accounting are alway severely understaffed, or overstaffed with completely unqualified people. So the hours are long, the work UGLY, and you will have to constantly train new staff both within and outside of your department while barely having enough time to complete even a fraction of the work assigned to you.
