Statisfying, important work, but you'll kill yourself trying to do it - Recensione dipendente - Managing Editor presso True North

I worked at this job for seven months before calling it quits. I was a managing editor at this company, and while paid generously, with good benefits and vacation time, the pay wasn't worth the 50-60 hours I was putting in most weeks, while making myself sick over it. I was easily doing the work of 2-3 people. Fellow managing editors spoke fondly of "getting on the computer early in the morning and late at night in order to get work done without interruptions." I was told that, when I first started, it would take a full year to fully understand and be good at all the ins and outs of the job. That should have been the first red flag. Six months in, I was put on a "30 day performance improvement plan," because they were concerned about my performance. I decided to call it quits after that, because I knew I was already trying my absolute best, and it wasn't good enough. If you can handle 500 tasks a day, and all the switching back and forth that that entails, then maybe this job is right for you.
