Vantaggi

Opportunity for rapid promotion. Pretty generous severance packages.

Svantaggi

Brick and mortar is a difficult market to enter but they might be able to crack it if not for the revolving door of leaders at every level. The CEO shows signs of serious paranoia and constantly evaluates employee's "loyalty" to him. If you disagree, you're disloyal and you'll get fired. Even in the most senior levels where healthy discourse is critical to the success of the company, if you offer any kind of dissenting opinion, you're out. I'm talking finding-out-your-boss-was-fired-when-he-doesn't-show-up-for-your-one-on-one fired too, not "Bob has decided to transition out over the summer" fired. The CEO also has an obvious soft spot for the 10-15 people who have been with the company from the beginning, who came from his last company. They are deemed loyal. If you are not one of them then your best chances of success is to keep your head down, do the bare minimum, and wait for your boss to be fired. Take your boss's title, and coast until it's your turn. If you play your cards right, you'll leave with a better title than you started with and enough cash to last until you land your next gig. The day to day is frustrating, but not abusive - if you don't get too invested it's not a bad short term gig. Plus the people you meet will all end up at other companies within the year, so you'll develop a broad network.

It is unfortunate that you feel that we leverage turnover for personal gain. Turnover is not something that Tulip views as a “gain”. It impacts customers and team morale, so we obviously do what we can to minimize it. Losing a member of the Tulip team is always a difficult time for us as we genuinely value every single member of the team. Our turnover rates have dropped year over year for the past 3 years. All discussions and viewpoints are encouraged at Tulip, especially by the CEO. Not one employee has been terminated for having a different opinion than anyone else in the company. If we do make the serious and unfortunate decision to terminate someone's employment, we would not share that with any other staff member until we have informed the impacted employee, so yes, there may be times when direct reports are not made aware in advance. Also, Tulip does not ask our staff to leave reviews on Glassdoor or any other site, for this very reason. We encourage any current employees who may have similar feelings to reach out to Employee Success directly to share your concerns or use our anonymous feedback platform.
