Job security and pay are good. In general, my students are respectful and many of them are wonderful. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed a lot of autonomy in how and what I teach in class. I also like my school administrators.

District expectations keep my administrators from being more supportive and successful. Expectations, policies, and practices at the district level are constantly in flux, I suspect due to individual agendas. They mostly use quantitative data to determine the problems and achievements of schools. Solutions seem to come from a select group of educators who haven’t taught their own classes in a while and their solutions are usually imposed on current teachers without or ignoring their input. The district likes to try and force one size fits all solutions that tend to lead to poor morale among teachers.
