Vantaggi
One thing I’ll give them credit for is that they always paid on time. Most of the students are great to work with, and some of the lesson materials like Speak Now and OUP were good to work with. Good work-life balance as you can choose your own schedule.
Svantaggi
By the time I left, it felt like management didn't really care about their teachers much anymore. You’re treated like just another cog in the machine. If you wake up sick and have to cancel a class last minute, they’ll shadowban you for two weeks. Teachers get fired without so much as an email explaining why. They discontinued the app that teachers relied on for scheduling. Management is out of touch with the teachers. The TPRs are helpful when answering questions, but they mostly just repeat whatever management tells them to. Turnover is high, and there aren’t many real incentives, aside from a few “premium” classes. When I started teaching with the company back in 2019, they used to show appreciation for their teachers. We'd get nice messages on holidays and they would host contests and events with cash prizes and giveaways. The past few years? Nothing. Not so much as a “Happy Teacher’s Day” or “Merry Christmas” from anyone in management. I had a look at some of the newer company reviews before writing mine, and some of them seem feel fake like they are being written by AI to drown out the bad ones. Like my title says, the company’s been going downhill for a while now.
