They blamed a lot of the downfalls on the sales staff, however their constant restructuring of the pay scale, and cutbacks created a less than homely atmosphere. This coupled with an extremely high turnover rate feathered the consumers trust in their neighborhood tweeter sales counselor. For a long time the sales staff was the bread and butter of the company, with individual sales people being the go-to guy throughout every generation of the tech phase. however, this was truly undone by managements failure to retain top sales earners.
