I've gained many responsibilities and usable job skills by simply being willing to try, and to learn new things and accept new projects. There are many departments to work for as a student- recreation center, accounting, audit, IT, dining, etc. It's a good way to get job experience while in school, ideally in your area of study, while only having to drive to one place every day and having flexibility of working between classes.
