UCLA offers a great benefits package including a pension. I would recommend it as a good place to retire from. The pay is not as great as the private sector but the job security can't be beat. I will likely return here at a later stage in my career. It is great to be in the university environment. It is a diverse community with people from all races, nationalities, ages and disciplines. There are so many departments that if you are not comfortable in there is plenty of opportunity to move around. Good career advancement structure provides well-defined paths to advance your career.
