Terrific Place to Work & Build Products - Recensione dipendente - Director presso UNICOM Global

I’ve worked at UNICOM for almost 4 years. Our product was bought from IBM by them. I’ve worked at other companies before IBM – big and small. I have enjoyed working at UNICOM –- the product teams are allowed to work in an independent ‘just do it’ environment with an entrepreneurial spirit –- no micromanagement from the CEO, and we work well with other product teams -– there is a philosophy of sharing not competition. The CEO I’ve found to be a visionary guy who is building a bigger company at a quick pace. He has been open to all ideas we’ve had, and personally meets with our customers at our user groups. There are other reviews here that dig the company for putting in family members at leadership positions. I’ve worked with these people -- and found them to be super bright, productive, and really easy to get along with. I view them as a fantastic resource to the company. Also ps what private company hasn’t introduced family into the business (Ford, Walmart, etc)? In other reviews the LA office got digged for being messy; but I would say the Virginia facility is a first rate phenomenal facility, and UNICOM have just bought the old Merck headquarters in NJ which is another first-rate facility. (And I’ve worked at other places – terrific places – where we had to send in people to clean out the lead developer’s office it was so messy; he was working the midnight hour non stop. That’s the software business. See Dilbert.) So I’d say the working environment is here is good – even very good; the benefits are pretty decent, and it’s a fast-growing company which is exciting. A lot of opportunities. I didn’t have to write this review; just trying to be fair.
