Vantaggi

Diverse work experience. Almost every Soldier has a unique career path. As a 35P, one can pursue a strategic, tactical, "stratical", or any combination of the three flavors of mission related work. You can work the gammut, from missions that directly/indirectly support the NSA to those that support the US Special Forces, Rangers and other special missions units. The US Army pays for the entirety of your training, which also counts as college credits and provides ongoing tuition assistance (about $4000/yr) for the school of your choice throughout the duration of your active duty career (then there's the 9/11 GI bill, an additional $50,000 for education when you get out). As a 35P, the DoD will pay for you to obtain a swecurity clearance, that will also open up other career paths after the military. As a new enlisted Soldier on active duty, the Army will provide all necessary food, lodging and work uniforms while in training and at your first duty station if you remain single. Promotions come fast as long as you have a strong moral compass, do the right things, give 110% effort and stay out of trouble.

Svantaggi

The transition to civilian life after the military is not easy. They're totally different cultures. But as long as your willing to go the course, you won't regret it!

os: The Army develops leaders in ways most organizations simply cannot replicate. Over a 24-year career, I was entrusted with managing multi-million dollar inventories, leading diverse teams under high-pressure conditions, and executing complex logistics operations across CONUS and deployed environments — including combat zones. The training pipeline is world-class, and the institution genuinely invests in your development at every rank. Benefits are exceptional: comprehensive healthcare, retirement pension, education assistance (tuition assistance and GI Bill), and a built-in network of professionals who share your values. The sense of mission and belonging is unmatched. I was part of something bigger than a bottom line.

Svantaggi

Cons: Work-life balance can be a real challenge, especially at junior enlisted ranks and during deployments — the Army's needs always come first, and your personal schedule is secondary to the mission. Frequent PCS (Permanent Change of Station) moves can strain family stability and make long-term community roots difficult to maintain. Bureaucracy and slow institutional change can be frustrating, particularly when you can clearly see a better way to accomplish a task. Transitioning out after a long career also requires significant personal initiative — the civilian world speaks a very different language, and translating military experience takes real effor
