Vantaggi
- Company doing great: Decent growth, market leading product. - Cool team members who are always happy to help. - Using latest tech, e.g. adopts latest Python quite fast. - Extremely flexible work hours. - Mostly 40 hr weeks, but with the occasional 50-60 hr week.
Svantaggi
- Virtually no opportunity to work on anything outside of assigned tickets, which quickly become repetitive and boring. - Poor communication on project requirements and timelines. In particular, several last minute scrambles could have been avoided if hard deadlines were simply communicated to engineers even just days earlier. - Some teams are being paid below market rate by anywhere from 10-50%. In general, compensation for these teams do not seem significantly correlated with factors within their control: outputting more work, outputting better work, making the company more money. - Most employees do not stand to benefit from company success, e.g. no pay adjustments after raising a very, very large Series A. - Many changes that directly affected team workflows were made without prior discussion with stakeholders, then instituted with little to no warning or lead time, predictably resulting in significant pushback and downstream issues. - Some team members have literally no growth opportunity within their current role, as literally no roles exist that they can be promoted into.
