Work life balance is poor, especially in India-Gurgaon. No resource planning/backfilling, In one word-its under-staffed. No career growth options. Internal promotions provide meagre salary raises as compared to an employee hired externally for the same position in the same department. Internal promotion opportunities hard to come by. Continous process churn, managers are like headless chickens(maybe just mine). Involving a person extensively in non-core areas other than what he/she was hired for in the name of initiatives. Unethical treatment of employees who dont suck up. And quick rewards to those who do. Local mid-managers at India-Gurgaon have an 'agenda' of prioritizing trivial 'local' tasks/projects over 'Global UnitedHeatlth' tasks/projects, frontline employees are threatened not to disclose such two timing to the Global Team 'on pain of retrenchment'. This translates to overworked and underpaid employees. The burden of having non-technical managers adds to the circus party where you're made the joker, when you'd signed up to be the bearded lady or Evil Knievel(maybe). IT work is archaic and anarchic at the same time. The whole world is moving North, but UHG is moving South, pray why, well cause they 'assume' that they are pathfinders. More time is spent on tracking and planning than on actual work.
