Vantaggi
Good coworkers Easy hiring process Hybrid schedule for some positions
Svantaggi
The company culture and policies make it extremely difficult for managers to give recognition to their employees outside of a pat on the back. UHS does not believe in investing in its people, or in promoting from within the company. HR actively advises against promoting current, high-performing employees to supervisory positions. Pay is not competitive, and it is not company policy to give employees a raise without completely restructuring their role and assigning a new title. When I attempted to give an employee a small raise (think 2-3%), which would have put them in the middle of UHS's published salary range for the position, I was told "we don't want to pay anyone more than they're worth" by the same people who have benefited the most from my employee's stellar performance. Little room for growth. There aren't many opportunities to move up within the company, and if a manager wants to create or change a role to provide this opportunity, they are met with opposition from HR. Benefits are not impressive. Friends and family members had much better benefits for a better price while working at breweries and hotels. Forced PTO on company holidays; there are no paid holidays, even though the office is closed for business.
