My experience in my department was terrible: - The workplace culture is toxic. - Management and leadership are incompetent, creating a hostile environment. - Leaders lack the necessary knowledge to perform their roles effectively. - The company's practices are inconsistent with its stated values. - HR is powerless to address issues, leaving employees without support. - Politics, favouritism, and micromanagement at its best.

In a company that is truly committed to being our own best case study, we genuinely want everyone at Unmind to have a great experience. Of our two company-wide strategic OKRs, one is fully dedicated to making this a reality. Our ELT are held accountable for their results in this area, just as they are for our commercial performance. Managers are held accountable for their own team’s results and any qualitative feedback is shared with them and their ELT reporting line. In our last monthly pulse survey, 78% of Unminders positively agreed that working at Unmind had a net positive impact on their wellbeing. We are a start up though and in a start up things can be pressurised and are rarely perfect. We strive to make a significant investment to ensure Unminders have several channels to have a voice - our monthly pulse surveys playing a part in that. This allows us to spot and surface strengths and issues quickly at both a company and a department level and take proactive action. Reporting our results and key concrete actions transparently to Unminders on a monthly basis seems to be having a real positive impact on team engagement and everyone contributing to building a culture we can be proud of. I didn’t want to write this review, not wanting to say anything negative and move on. But, after HR ignoring my requests to provide info for unemployment for weeks, I’ve become very frustrated. Job: If you are looking to start your career in a revenue facing entry level position, be wary. The revenue goals are aggressive to say the least which is understandable for a high growth start up, but the company is not equipped for an entry level position. Your goals are lofty and you aren’t supplied the correct resources to succeed. Management is disorganized and goals are consistently changing, leaving others confused and frustrated. If you are highly experienced with connections, you may have a better time. In fact, one of the seniors of the company told me flat out “Many people come in mission driven, but not many make it”. Culture: As a mental health company, they boast an inclusive, supportive culture, but it depends. You’ll need to fit into a very specific demographic to be included, and if not, you may be as uncomfortable as I was. The culture is undermined by the cut throat revenue generation. Any revenue generation role is stressful for sure, but their high turnover cut throat policy does not align with the flowery, positive mental health veil they preach. If you agree with the mission and are passionate, I wish you luck, but the entire experience left a rotten taste in my mouth.
